Serge Gainsbourg the famous chanteur who defined a revolutionary style of song and sexuality gets his first feature film treatment in newcomer Joann Sfar’s Gainsbourg: Vie héroïque. Despite the title, Sfar accurately depicts Gainsbourg’s life as less than heroic. Sfar, a legendary French comic book artist, actually depicts Gainsbourg’s demons as grotesque puppets that physically interact with Gainsbourg throughout his life.

No one looks to Gainsbourg for heroics though, his allure lies in his unapologetic hedonism. Thankfully hedonism films very well; especially when it involves Brigitte Bardot and Jane Birkin (two of Gainsbourg’s numerous conquests). Die hard fans will find the film most entertaining, but anyone looking for a lesson in swagger will find a hero in Gainsbourg (By: Rodney Uhler)

While a “foodie” I may not be - I do appreciate innovation, especially when it comes to technology. AvroKO, the design firm behind restaurant Double Crown just launched their latest foray into the social networking world. They recently put forth “Expedition East: An Asian Convocation” - detailing the inner workings and behind the scenes action leading up to their spring menu.
It’s quite cool to check out, and gives a peek behind the process of it all. And at the end of the day, isn’t that what intrigues us the most?
Check it out for yourself. I promise - you won’t be disappointed.

When you discover something good - why not spread the word? Scott Sanders, good friend of THE MALCOLM has a penchant for good musical taste. He’s got his finger on the pulse and knows how to create a killer playlist. For the past few months - every now and then - he will send his friends a playlist or a new album he discovered - which I consider the best electronic present to ever hit my inbox.
And now, he’s spreading it even further, creating a list exclusively for THE MALCOLM. It’s free, it’s fun, and hey, it’s summer.
And blast your speakers.
