Agent-Producer Jorge Perez has been working with some of the top celebrities and photographers in the world.  Born in Venezuela, Jorge began a successful career in photography representation 5 years ago with OPUS PHOTO.  He has traveled the world and produced photo shoots with some of the greatest photographers of our time.  Producing shoots with some of the most influential talent of our day – he has worked along side individuals such as Brad Pitt, Anne Hathaway, Javier Bardem, Naomi Campbell, Lindsay Lohan and Lady Gaga. With a new show coming up on Bravo titled “Double Exposure” premiering June 15th, it will provide viewers with a taste of the fast-paced world of high fashion and celebrity photography. We spoke to Mr. Perez to get an understanding about how he got his start in his career and what we can expect to see on his latest television venture.

Are you in NYC? or LA? My main office is in LA but we just opened a NY office and I am there once a month.

What inspired you to pursue your career? What inspired me was my sensibility for being a coach and a motivator.  I love getting the best out of people and supporting people in achieving their dreams.

Can you tell us about your involvement with meals on wheels? What made you want to give your time? My friend Keith Ferrazi told me about Meals on Wheels 2 Thanksgivings ago.  The idea of helping people that are home bound seemed like something that very needed.  The feeling of seeing these people’s eyes light up when you bring them a hot meal is one of the greatest feelings in the world.  I am very grateful for my life and the least I could do is give back.

What made you want to start your “Agent Seminars”? Photography agenting is not structured at all and we feel that it needs to be.  There was a need in the market for it and my business partner Bobby Heller and I decided to do it.  I am currently working on a book about great agenting and it also delves into the making of Double Exposure.

Most in your position would be a lot more arrogant than you are.  What is it that keeps you grounded and makes you so humble? I have worked in almost every job under the sun, from catering, waitering, delivering pizza, you name it.  I think that also coming from Venezuela where I experienced so much poverty - I will never ever forget where I came from.

What is your favorite photographer to work with?  Why? Is this a trick question?  I am a parent to my artists and I have no favorites!

Do you desire to do work with anyone that you haven’t yet worked with? I would love to work with Madonna…I hear she knows more about lighting than some of the best photographers out there…would love to hear what she has to say after the first shot is done and she looks at the monitor.

Do you have any advice for those looking to get in your field of work or just for life in general? Be positive!  Even if you have to fake it for a while.  I am huge believer that whatever you believe will happen so you have to condition yourself to think that good things are coming your way.

How did you transition from photography to agent? Why did you decide to make this change? How did it happen? I love photography, but I never wanted to be a photographer nor did I ever pursue it.  I have a very good eye and I know what the market place wants.  For me being an agent is like being a coach and I am here to make stars out of my artists.

Who wold you count as your biggest influence? My biggest influence would be my business partner Bobby Heller.  He is the kindest, smartest, funniest person I have ever met.

You have a new show coming up on Bravo titled “Double Exposure”. Can you tell us a little bit about the concept and your involvement? The concept of Double Exposure is about my photographers Markus Klinko and Indrani.  They used to be a couple for years and now they are best friends and partners in photography.  The show follows their lives in and out of celebrity and fashion photo shoots.  I play the agent on the show.  I am sort of like a really nice balanced version of Ari Gold from Entourage, but I do lose it a little bit…just a little.

What do you do to relax? I love going hiking and working out.  I usually listen to Anthony Robbins and Abraham Hicks while I am working out.  The gym is my only time during the day where people are not asking me for things. It is my meditation.
