The Thompson LES is Jason Pomeranc’s 4th hotel in NYC. Located in the Lower East Side, conceptually designed by Ed Rawlings Architects, with interiors by Jim Walrod - this 141 room hotel features custom designed light-boxes above each bed by Lee Friendlander while the breathtaking pool displays an image of Andy Warhol, which was created by his confidant Gerard Malanga. While the hotel has an industrial design like feel - the art adoring the walls features some of the most prominent American artists. If you have the opportunity to stay in one of their luxurious rooms - do it! If not - check out Shang, the highly-hyped restaurant my fellow Torontonian Susur Lee. With additional Thompson Hotels slated to open in Toronto, San Juan and Seoul by 2011 - if Thompson LES is any indication of Pomeranc’s capabilities - I cant wait to see what he comes up with next.
