Diggin’ It - Flocks Melbourne

We’re recently hooked on scents. It’s all we can think about over here at The Malcolm HQ. Fragrances, colognes, candles, room sprays….our sartorial choices have been pushed aside and we’ve been focused on our noses. But, when we got turned onto Flocks Melbourne, a collection of dope kicks that was founded in 2008, we needed to investigate. We’re especially digging their men’s classic boot that utilizes a natural chemical free crepe, 100% Australian A Grade Sheepskin, and finished off with waxed cotton laces with brass tips and hand stitched construction. Pillows for your feet!

Last night, guests gathered at The Gramercy Park Hotel to toast the launch of Rachel Zoe’s latest collaboration with QVC. Put on by the talented team over at SPEC Entertainment, Zoe’s collection will be officially unveiled once August hits, and will be available through the fall. With everything under $200.00, Zoe managed to create her signature look of oversized sunglasses, caftans and her iconic totes.

Some of my favorites happen to be her latest range of accessories - on point, affordable and well made.

Check it out.

erinkleinberG is a culimnation of Erin Kleinberg’s extensive industry experience, and a desire to fill a void in today’s vast contemporary womens marketplace.

For Fall 2010, Kleinberg hand selected famed downtown darling Annabelle Dexter-Jones to model in her look book. As someone who embodies effortless chic, Kleinberg’s latest collection consists of raw silk velvet, diamond cut chains and hand sewn metal mesh detailing. With a color palette consisting of navy with black, vintage dusty rose, and  rich taupe hues, Kleinberg’s role as a tee-shirt designer has since morphed into a sought after and much watched all encompassing entrepreneur. Gainsbourg, Je t’Aime… Moi Non Plus

Serge Gainsbourg the famous chanteur who defined a revolutionary style of song and sexuality gets his first feature film treatment in newcomer Joann Sfar’s Gainsbourg: Vie héroïque. Despite the title, Sfar accurately depicts Gainsbourg’s life as less than heroic.  Sfar, a legendary French comic book artist, actually depicts Gainsbourg’s demons as grotesque puppets that physically interact with Gainsbourg throughout his life.

No one looks to Gainsbourg for heroics though, his allure lies in his unapologetic hedonism. Thankfully hedonism films very well; especially when it involves Brigitte Bardot and Jane Birkin (two of Gainsbourg’s numerous conquests).  Die hard fans will find the film most entertaining, but anyone looking for a lesson in swagger will find a hero in Gainsbourg (By: Rodney Uhler)

Polished. Refined. Constructed. Craftsmanship. Last week marked the J.CREW Fall/Winter 2010 men’s presentation at Milk Studios. Their collection marks a turning point for the brand - creating a unified look that really works for the modern gentleman. The clothes have a certain casual air surrounding them - leaving it to the person putting on the garments to put their own spin on the final look they create. And THAT my friends, is the epitome of style.

PALLADIUM PRESENTS: LONDON PIRATE RADIO

To coincide with the re-launch of the legendary boot brand in the UK market, Palladium’s intrepid explorers took to the rooftops of London’s inner city tower blocks to find illegal pirate radio antenna, and into the hidden studios of the pirates themselves.

Born in the 1960’s, the original pirates found an offshore base of operations in rusting anti-aircraft towers standing in the mouth of the River Thames.  These strange structures remain today and Palladium took a boat ride to climb aboard and see where pirate radio started.   Today, pirate radio is everywhere in London, hidden in plain sight.  While the internet is changing the landscape of radio broadcasting, the pirate’s role of breaking new music remains the same.

Palladium’s UK launch was marked with an event in conjunction with retailer size in East London’s Shoreditch, at The Old Blue Last, voted the UK’s best live music venue by the NME.  The event included the first public screening of Palladium’s London Pirate Radio documentary film, and performances by DJ’s and MC’s from the film, including Logan Sama, J2K, Jammer and Ms Dynamite.  Featured in the documentary, London-based grime DJ Logan Sama has put together an exclusive mix for Palladium.  Streaming now at www.palladiumboots.com
