Originally founded in 1980 in Cologne by Benedikt Taschen as a way to showcase his extensive comic book collection – Taschen is now seen as a guiding force in making lesser-seen art available in mainstream bookstores. With 10+ stores spanning the globe, each unique retail post has its own distinct vision and feel, while simultaneously stocking a vast selection of books pertaining to photography, painting, design, fashion, advertising, history and film.

The team at Taschen provided a “global tour” – showcasing each store unique aesthetic.

“Creation” kicked off opening night of  Performa 09 - the brainchild of Jennifer Rubell. Performa, now in its 3rd year, showcases new visual art forms in contemporary stimulating and boundary breaking ways. What better way to launch - a D.I.Y installation-conceptualized dinner. From appetizers all the way to cleaning your own dishes - this is a meal (event) that involved participation, creativity, and member-involvement.

“We only write about two feelings: one is the first day of summer when you and all of your friends are standing on the edge of a cliff watching the sun set and being overcome with all of your hopes and dreams at once. The other is when you’re walking alone in the rain and realize you will be alone forever.”

“When you’re with new friends, dont just talk about old friends”.

“Never get your haircut on the day of the big dance”.

“Framing a poster does not make it valuable”.

“After writing an angry email, read it carefully. Then delete it”.

“Don’t pose with booze”.

1001 Rules For My Unborn Son” is a blog that was started by Walker Lamond, an LA based writer and television producer. The initial concept was simple. “BOYS NEED RULES”.

Lamond would regularly document rules to live by for his “unborn” son. From tailoring to table manners and from posture to lying, Lamond documented these honest words of wisdom on his blog - and by word of mouth, a book deal was signed.

Today marks the book launch of “RULES FOR MY UNBORN SON” - a humorous, sweet, and truthful read. Smart and witty - go buy the book. Also - be sure to take a look at his website for the rules every boy should know.

Cornwall based Robert Bradford is INCREDIBLE. Known for creating contemporary sculptures - he is creating something uniquely his own - playing with mediums not necessarily associated with art construction. Nostalgic in a playful sense - Bradford is inspiring, luminous, talented, and exceptionally unpredictable. He supplied me with exclusive images of his creations - THEY ARE NOT TO BE MISSED!!!!

In Bradford’s own words - an amazing insightful journey into this masterminds world….
